When I was a skinny 14 year old, I set out with the goal of developing a muscular body, like what I saw on TV and in magazines. Not knowing what to do and having not much in the way of gym equipment, I started in my home doing mainly push-ups, sit-ups and a little dumbbell work. Once high school began, I used the school's equipment, doing the workouts they told me to do. In that first year I noticed some progress, but I felt I could be better. Knowing very little about working out or the human body, I figured that the more I trained the better the results would be. I got to the point where I was doing four hour-long workouts a day! Of course, I wasn't seeing any dramatic results other than being over-tired. I was overtraining.
I realized I needed to learn the correct ways to train. I starting reading every magazine and book I could find on working out. Armed with this newfound knowledge, I cut my workouts down to just four times per week, for less then an hour a session. The results came quickly, but I was still not satisfied. One book would say to workout like this, another like this, while the magazine would say "this bodybuilder works out like this so you should too!" (I'm not a big fan of fitness magazines). How was I going to find the perfect workout program when everyone said something different? Well, I was young, so I simply tried them all! Over the next few years, I did every workout program I could get my hands on, in an attempt to find a perfect system.
And you know what I found from all those books and all those years of in the gym research? There is no perfect program. It's all about training with a certain system that allows your body to adapt in the right way, creating the physical changes you need to achieve your goal. Here's what I mean...
You start a new sport or job that requires some physical work. Notice how for the first few days or so you are probably pretty sore and tired? Then what happens? Your body adapts by creating new and stronger muscles and in the process, you get added strength and energy. But what happens if you just keep on increasing the workload? Overtraining, as I discovered in my earlier years. Or you can keep the workload the same and not make any new progress. Or you can decease the workload and not make progress. If you do only one of these things, you'll only get the above results. So what to do?
The answer is to work out a combination of ALL of the above that's suited to you, your lifestyle and your body type. It's all about knowing your body and when to increase, decrease, or keep things the same. These rules apply to any fitness goal you have. Now this can be tricky to work out, especially to start with. That's why, when you're first learning, it's best to stick to a program, or ideally have a personal trainer to monitor your workouts. Eventually, you can get to a point where you know how your body adapts and you'll be able to self-regulate your workouts to suit yourself. That's why there's no one program out there that's perfect for everyone all the time.
During those years of exploration and research, I also began to learn about nutrition. I didn't pay much attention to it at first because I thought it wasn't that important. But now that I realize nutrition is 60-70% of your progress I pay a lot of attention to it! And just like the workouts, many of the same rules apply when it comes to working out how to eat for your particular body type -- that's why there are a million diet programs out there -- because there's hundreds of ways to adapt nutrition to your body. The trick is to find what is going to work for you.
Now I've finally been able to finish one of my long time dreams, FitnessModelBody.com. Anyone that knows me well knows that this has been something I've been talking about for years. Before I was online I use to always think, "why doesn't someone create a fitness site where people can get a new workout program every month, the follows an effective training system, and have a fitness expert go through the workout on video so people will know exactly what to do?"
About a year ago I decided that I would be that person. After a year of planning, dedication, and hard work I'm pleased to announce that FitnessModelBody.com is now ready for you.

Your site is what I have been needing for a long time. I want to lose about 30lbs of fat and gain back my muscle. I don’t have access to a gym or much time so your Two Dumbbell workout and Ultimate Chest training have been a blessing.
